Today
is the Solemnity of Corpus Christi.
The
intentions at all the Masses will be for vocations to the priesthood. Pray that
those whom God calls to this ministry will have the grace to respond
generously, and that they will have the support they need from families and
friends.
There
will be a simple form of Benediction at the end of all Masses.
Today
at 2-30 pm Corpus Christi Procession in Oxford begins at St Aloysius Church, stopping at Blackfriars, and going on to the Catholic
Chaplaincy, where there will be light refreshments. Please come!
Thank you to all who helped with the Confirmation
Mass last Sunday, particularly the musicians and servers, and all who helped Sr
MarieAnn in preparing the candidates for this sacrament.
On
Sunday 28th June there will be
a Mass at Oscott College (Birmingham) to mark the closure of the Year of St
Paul and the beginning of the year of Priesthood. Archbishop Vincent will be
the principal celebrant; there will be a presentation to him in thanksgiving
for his nine years of service to the Archdiocese. Details on notice boards.
CAFOD is urging us to lobby the government to remember the needs of
developing countries in their policies, especially in matters concerning
climate change. Postcards are available for you to send to HM Government.
Sidney
Smith was regularly at the 9-00 am Mass every
Sunday until a couple of accidents made it impossible for him to get to Mass.
He died in the JR hospital on 4th June at the age of 97. His Funeral
Mass will be in Corpus Christi on Wed 17th at 12 noon, followed by
burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, and refreshments in the Cowley Conservative Club.
